Morblus and Guitar Shorty

Morblus is in 1991 opgericht door Roberto Morbioli, wiens plan het was om
een Blues Band op te richten. Zijn wortels zijn diep geankerd in de
Amerikaanse Blues traditie met een eigen inbreng. De muziek die vanaf het
begin is ontstaan, is krachtig, robuust en verreikt door invloeden van
Funk, R&B en Soul: een geluid dat de Morblus kenmerkt als één van de beste
op de Europese podia. De samenerking met o.a. Sandra Hall, Chicago
“Bob”Nelson, Beverly Hammond, Jesse Yawn, Steve Smith, Paul Orta, Preston
Shannon, Hush Brown, Blu “Benoit” Boy, Michael Coleman, Rudy Rotta, Tolo
Marton, Louisiana Mojo Queen, Billy Coban, Stanley Jordan, Robben Ford,
John Mayall, Stevie Smith, Roomful of Blues … en veel meer internationale
Blues artiesten heeft in de loop der jaren de muziek van de Morblus naar
een hoog niveau gebracht waar techniek en soul samenvoegen met uitstekende
kwaliteit tot één groot overzichtelijk raamwerk. De stijl van de band is
met veel respect voor de grondslag van de grootse ‘Black Music’. Het
aandeel van zeer vakkundige muzikanten is essentieel om de kracht van de
Morblus te uiten… vooral op het podium. De grootse robuustheid  en
originaliteit heeft de band vanaf het begin altijd gekenmerkt en heeft
ervoor gezorgd dat de Morblus optreden in een zeer groot Italiaans
netwerk. Ook zijn ze de aanhang van de Italiaanse tours van John Mayall en
Robben Ford, en ze speelden zelfs in de legendarische B.B. King’s Blues
Club in Memphis! Tegenwoordig heeft de Morblues band een groot publiek in
Noord Europa waar de meeste activiteiten zich concentreren,  maar ze zijn
ook nog altijd bij de meest belangrijke evenementen in Italië.

A Texan Italian Dialogue
The cooperation between Guitar Shorty and Roberto Morbioli / Morblus surely is one of the most exciting collaborations hitting the Blues scene next year.
At the same time it’s a promising face-off between two musicians that generated a lot of buzz while shaping and finding their own style.
You realize right away that these blues titans were made for each other.  The native Texan Guitar Shorty. Blues legend, W.C. Handy Award Winner, former guitarist of Ray Charles and the musician both Buddy Guy and Jimi Hendrix call their biggest influence.  And Roberto Morbioli, the successful singer, guitarist and songwriter of his own band Morblus. Who is well known widely over the borders of his hometown of Verona for more than 25 years.
Both know how to capture the audience with their guitar playing.  Soulful and virtuosic on the one hand. Hypnotic and energetic on the other they play electric blues driven by improvisation and creativity. Never boring or predictable you can feel the temperamental synergy between the Texas bluesman and the charismatic Italian.
What really stands out is the exchange between the audience and two dedicated musicians which both like to prove that while playing compelling solos in between the thrilled crowd of listeners.
Despite the difference in age they both individually retrospect a long and prosperous musical life. Several tours and collaborations with greats such as Bo Diddley, Sam Cooke, Big Daddy Wilson and a ton of others.
This dialogue between Italy and Texas will be no exception and already is a milestone in the life of two exceptional musicians.
